NUDJIT

Nudjit (pronounced nudg-it) is Africa’s first social, gadget and technology community.

The site aims to inform, entertain, and alert South Africans about the gadgets that are available to us. Our gadget reviews don’t just highlight the technical aspects but will also judge how well they work, where one can get them, and if our local technology infrastructure can actually support these electronic toys.

The site offers detailed written reviews, quirky video posts, aggregated gadget news from all across Africa, user ratings, and hot links from popular gadget sites from around the world.

Nudjit was co-founded by myself, Justin Hartman and Nic Haralambous.

JO’S TOOLKIT

Jo’s Toolkit is South Africa’s online student and grassroot journalism community, which provides resources and tools for media practitioners in the fields of writing, editing, design, photography, television, radio and new media.

In 2006, four months after launch, Jo’s Toolkit won the Highway Africa Award for Innovative Use of New Media in Africa.

Jo’s Toolkit was co-founded by myself and Carly Ritz and is currently off-line for maintenance reasons.

PROJECT: PICTURES FOR LIFE

The aim of this project was to channel profit or financial support, initiated by my photographs, back to the Grahamstown community, aiding further development projects. My images reflected and explained certain moments in people’s lives and focused on the development projects initiated by the Centre for Social Development.

Ultimately, this project was my way of giving something back to the community, in return for providing insight into their lives and the initiatives of which they are a part.

In 2005 I was invited to exhibit the project at the Glocal OpenBC event at the World Trade Centre in Rotterdam, and as a solo exhibition during the 2005 National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa.
